Mabira Forest

Mabira district is found in Buikwe district between towns of Jinja and Lugazi consisting of over 300 bird species many of which are difficult to see elsewhere in Uganda.

Notable bird species in the Park include; Little Olive, Blue throated brown, breasted Woodpecker, Black throated Apalis, Snowy headed Robin chat, Black and White flycatcher, African blue flycatcher, Green throated, olive bellied and Grey capped warbler, African wood owl plus many others.

There are over 218 butterfly species, 23 mammals, 95 moths, primates, 9 endangered species of mammals in Mabira forest including; the short tailed fruit bat, Mangabey, baboon, Colobus monkeys, butterflies plus the various bird species resided there.
