The country consists of ten major national parks which include; Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kidepo Valley National Park, Mgahinga National Park, Kibale Forest National Park, Murchison Falls National Park, Mountain Elgon National Park, Rwenori Mountains National Park, Lake Mburo National Park And Semuliki National Park of which all the above national parks are governed by UWA (Uganda Wildlife Authority) found in Kamwokya (Kampala).

The above protected areas are richly gifted with numerous wildlife species and over 1000 bird species thus being best destinations for both game viewing and birding activity.
