Entebbe

Entebbe is a major town in Central Uganda sitting on the northern shores of Africa’s largest lake (Lake Victoria). It is found in Wakiso district and situated almost 37 kilometers in the South-east of Uganda’s capital city (Kampala).

The town is so attractive due to its distinct features and on top of that it offers access to tourists to get a view of Uganda’s state house where the President of Uganda lives in.

Entebbe international airport which is Uganda’s major airport is also located in the town. The town is found on a peninsular into Lake Victoria covering a total area of 56.2 Kilometers squared out of which 20 square Kilometers is water and it consists of many beaches such as Spinner beach, Lido beach, Hero beach, Lutembe beach and many others allowing tourists to go there for luxurious moments such as swimming, boat cruises, kayaking, and many more.

Tourist attractions

There are a lot of attractive things in the town such as; the extensive National Botanical Garden, Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI), Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) and the Centre also serve as the national zoo where tourists will view a variety of bird species and wildlife such as chimpanzees, baboons, monkeys, lions, and many others.

As already noted, the town is the location of Uganda state House which is the official residence of the President of Uganda who is currently YOWERI KAGUTA MUSEVENI. Entebbe is also home to the historical site in Kigungu where the first catholic missionaries Brother Amans and Father Mon Maple Lourdel landed to establish the catholic faith in Uganda.

Entebbe is also home to the oldest golf course in East Africa called Entebbe Golf Club which was established in 1900 and it is close to the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (Entebbe Zoo) on its south direction.
